I would just like to be able to sync my iphone with my new hard drive with minimal fuss. I can copy over these directories onto a flash drive and put them onto the new drive (but where?)

My old hardrive on my laptop is dying, I can still boot it up and retrieve info if I need it, but I have only 1 laptop and have to continually switch out the hard drives to do things. ouch!Īlthough these directions seem simple enough, I however am very techie illiterate. I can see some poor person moving over their ITunes media file and then allowing ITunes to erase the previous content on their Iphone…only to realize after that they’ve lost all their pictures…. This is why they invented the ICloud backup process since this has all gotten so impossible, but it’s unconscionable that Apple does not provide an easier way to transfer ones IPhone from computer to computer. I’d moved my ITunes media folder over (to a data storage drive) and repointed ITunes to it, but couldn’t suss out how to save pictures and data from apps without doing a backup restore, and where the heck is that file located? Ah…in roaming apps data! But then as opposed to a lengthy restore….I followed your instructions on my PC, synched, and voila - everything is operational and saved after a one minute sync! But other people are right. (I am so tired of having to read through reams of info to get to instructions!) Thanks so much for saving me hours. Wow! This was exactly right! You should be able to even sync from an old PC or a Mac to a new PC/Mac if you use sharing between Mac and Windows to copy the iTunes and Backup folders and put them in their appropriate places.
